Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 robot vacuum cleaner test: everything is good except the price

Product Conclusion:

With the release of the Deebot Ozmo 930, Ecovacs is leaving behind the image of a manufacturer of cheap household appliances. Ozmo has state-of-the-art robot vacuum technology, from laser navigation and an advanced app to an integrated mopping function. In any test category, this device earned a “good” rating, but in such an important discipline as “Navigation”, it still allowed itself some shortcomings. But the price tag of approximately 58,000 rubles (as of January 2019), in our opinion, Ozmo received quite reasonably. However, there are competitive models that generally perform better, but are somewhat cheaper.

Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930: variability

More than any other robot vacuum cleaner tested in the CHIP lab, the Deebot Ozmo 930 excels in its versatility. With its turbo brush, it can work on both hard floors and carpets. At the same time, you can replace the turbo brush with a direct suction module, which in principle does not play any role for hard coatings, but you can no longer worry about the hair that is wound around the roller. In addition, there is a module for wet cleaning at the stern.

During the passage, the robot not only sucks in dirt, but also wipes the floors, circling all carpets in this mode so as not to wet them. But at present, the function of washing floors in robotic vacuum cleaners is considered by us rather as a nice feature, since in terms of performance such models do not come close to robots specializing in cleaning floors. In addition, a wet-dirty microfiber cloth increases the worries about cleaning the robot itself.

Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 robot vacuum cleaner test: everything is good except the priceWith the ability to climb thresholds up to 17mm high, Ozmo can clean almost an entire floor. Using the app’s smart mapping feature, you can identify the areas you want to clean by blocking access to some of them with lines. So, for example, an empty children’s room can be left at the mercy of a classic vacuum cleaner, or you can give the task to the robot to wipe the floors only in the kitchen. There is also a voice control function and some programming options.

Flying over the floor

Like many other mid-range robot vacuum cleaners, Ecovacs beim Ozmo 930 uses laser navigation. This type of navigation has proven to work well and typically allows close to 100% coverage of a living space, but with reflective surfaces such as mirrors or stainless steel refrigerators, it can be a bit of a problem.

Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 robot vacuum cleaner test: everything is good except the priceAt the same time, Ozmo goes through the rooms very quickly: with our test room during navigation tests, he finished in 15 minutes. But although this is a new record, the robot keeps too much distance from the walls and forgot to remove one spot. There was absolutely no reason for this, since with a battery life of 110 minutes and automatic recharging, the robot could afford to clean more thoroughly. After all, even the highest suction power will not provide a quality result if the robot does not vacuum the entire surface of the room.

During our “obstacle parkour” Ozmo experienced serious problems. He not only stops, like many of his colleagues, at obstacles in the form of carpets, but also struggles with loose cables, scattered socks and Lego bricks, not always coping with such challenges with confidence.

High suction power

Among robot vacuum cleaners costing over 500 euros, Ozmo makes a good impression: when it comes to suction power, only the Dyson 360 Eye, which costs 67,000 rubles, has some advantage over it. In our test room, the robot picked up a good 54 percent of the scattered sand.

However, during the test for the ability to collect threads, he lost some rating points, collecting only nine out of ten long fibers from the carpet. Besides, who needs a more thorough cleaning without gaps in navigation, he can always make Ozmo walk around the room twice. And some of the more affordable robot vacuums are surprisingly powerful.
