Review of an inexpensive coffee machine DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM 22.110.B

Modest coffee machine without unnecessary features

Do not expect a large set of options from the DeLonghi Mag­nifi­ca S: the cof­fee machine can auto­mat­i­cal­ly brew only two prod­ucts — espres­so and amer­i­cano. The cap­puc­ci­na­tore is installed here, but you will have to man­u­al­ly froth the milk and clean the noz­zle.

The device has sep­a­rate but­tons for prepar­ing two cups of cof­fee or espres­so, you can set the degree of strength of the drink, the amount of water sup­plied and its tem­per­a­ture. True, the choice of recipes for the device is very small, as well as the con­tain­er for cof­fee beans: only 200 grams are placed in it, so you will often have to refill. Also, the cof­fee machine can use an already ground mix­ture.

But the water tank has quite a suit­able vol­ume, you need to remove it from the front, which is very con­ve­nient (though unusu­al). By the way, you can install a water fil­ter in it. Hard­core econ­o­my fans will rejoice at DeLonghi’s low pow­er con­sump­tion of just 0.5 watts.

Low price, great coffee

The low price of Mag­nifi­ca S (about 20,000 rubles) does not mean that you will get a watery and burnt bour­da, vague­ly rem­i­nis­cent of cof­fee. On the con­trary, the car per­forms on par with com­peti­tors that are three to four times more expen­sive than it, for exam­ple, the Jura E8 (2018), which costs about 70,000 rubles. The taste of cof­fee, how­ev­er, is not as rich as that of the lux­u­ry class com­peti­tors, but it is more bal­anced. In addi­tion, the machine can be very fine­ly tuned: there are as many as 13 degrees of grind­ing!

It was not easy for our col­leagues to oper­ate a cof­fee machine with­out a dis­play. How­ev­er, the cof­fee, accord­ing to reviews, turned out to be “creamy and fra­grant”, as well as “tasty and not burnt.” But even here it is not with­out draw­backs: before start­ing work, the machine needs a rins­ing and pre­heat­ing cycle — the process takes a full minute.

Should I buy a coffee machine from DeLonghi?

DeLonghi Mag­nifi­ca S ECAM 22.110.B can­not be called a lux­u­ry cof­fee machine, but at the same time it brews excel­lent cof­fee — at the lev­el of much more expen­sive mod­els. The lay­out of but­tons and knobs is very sim­ple, but for fine tun­ing you will have to look at the instruc­tions.
