The predecessor of this model, Sony KD-43XE8005 in 2017, during the test tests, delighted us with its picture quality and sound. But the Japanese manufacturer did not stop there, equipping the next model with an improved UHD panel with the widest viewing angle and even more remarkable speakers.

Test results

Despite the fact that the overall assessment of the Sony KD-43XF8505 TV according to the test results is only satisfactory, in general, you can hardly find fault with the image quality. The IPS panel of the TV stands out above all for its wide viewing angles, high brightness and excellent contrast ratio. The sound quality is very good, and the equipment can even be called excellent. This is currently the maximum you can get from a 43-inch TV.

Successful improvement

About image quality: The 43-inch IPS panel, thanks to HDR support, produces a good picture from current Blu-ray players and game consoles. The quality of the integrated TV tuner is slightly worse, but it can also be called acceptable. But what really impressed us was the viewing angle: the maximum screen contrast is 4410: 1, and only starting from 61 degrees horizontally and 80 degrees vertically does less than half remain. These are wonderful figures. Thus, Sony KD-43XE8005 is suitable for families who willingly watch TV together: after all, not every viewer can sit right in front of the screen.

The rest of the results of laboratory measurements also turned out to be quite convincing. In particular, the 43-inch panel produces a good checkerboard contrast ratio (190:1) and shines with a brightness of 427 cd/m2. Dual 10W speakers deliver rich, natural sound continuously. Thus, despite the relatively small screen size, the TV is really capable of delivering pleasure.

Excellent equipment and Android TV

The Sony KD-43XF8505 integrates a Triple-Twin tuner with DVB-T2 support, as well as four HDMI inputs and three USB ports, so you can fully enjoy superb picture quality. The latter serve not only to play video and music, but can also be used to record TV programs on a PC via USB. The TV can be connected to the Internet via a LAN cable or, optionally, using a fast ac WLAN module.

Once the TV is connected to your home network (and thanks to the ease of operation, it will be very fast), the rich world of Android TV opens up to you. You will have access to all popular video-on-demand services such as Netflix, Maxdome and Prime Video. In addition, you can install many games and programs through Google Play. You can even set up voice control through Amazon Echo.

Another advantage over other Smart TV systems is the number of supported formats. Android TV can not only handle AC3 codec, but also can play DTS format. Only DivX files are not supported.

Power consumption as a 50-inch

The power consumption of the previous model was within reason, but the Sony KD-43XF8505 draws quite a lot of electricity from the outlet in normal operation. On average, it requires 76 watts — for a TV of this size, this is too much. For comparison, the Panasonic TX-50EXW784, which is more than the average 50-inch device, consumes only 77 watts. At the same time, power consumption in Standby mode is normal: only 0.3 watts. Despite this, this model is only “B” in terms of energy consumption. However, given the high cost of the device itself, which is approximately 63,000 rubles, this most likely will not upset you very much.

Sony KD-43XE8005

Sony KD-43XF8505 test: a small TV for a large familyDespite the fact that the Sony KD-43XE8005 has already been replaced by a new generation, it still deserves a recommendation. This 43-inch TV offers a great picture, very good sound and a complete equipment list. It also uses Android TV as an operating system, and in terms of power consumption, it even surpasses its successor. The same applies to the cost: at present, this TV has reduced the price to 50,000 rubles.

LG 43UJ635V

Sony KD-43XF8505 test: a small TV for a large familyEven cheaper is LG 43UJ635V: this 43-inch device will cost you only 32,000 rubles. Nevertheless, during the test tests, he distinguished himself by very good image quality, richness of sound and richness of equipment. While LG’s own Smart OS can’t match Google’s competition, it still has all the features and apps you need. Its consumption level is also low, so this model from LG deserves the title of a real hit in terms of price and quality.
