Cordless vacuum cleaners have become a recent trend. This is because it is convenient to work with them: you do not need to carry a wire with you, nothing restricts your movements. In addition, you can easily clean up in the car, even without an electrified garage or parking lot.

But the compact size and the need to reduce weight impose their limitations. Therefore, before buying such models, it would be good to understand whether they have a powerful enough engine and how long the battery lasts. These are some of the main questions that we were going to find out when testing the new Atvel G9 cordless vacuum cleaner.

Engine and filter system

Atvel G9 is made according to the classical scheme: a unit with a motor and filters that can be used to clean upholstered furniture and car interiors, an extension rod and a set of nozzles. The engine used here is quite powerful, 170 watts. It is brushless, electronically controlled and rotates at up to 125,000 rpm. The vacuum cleaner can work in three different modes.

The main one is, of course, Eco. It is guaranteed to be enough for hard floors, and autonomy in this mode is about 60 minutes. If you’re cleaning up a rug that your pet cat likes to lie on, it’s best to use the Super mode. True, they should not get carried away: the battery is consumed very actively, and even when fully charged, it can sit down in 12 minutes. In our experience, it is better to work with automatic mode. This is the same Eco, but with the ability to automatically switch to Super when the load increases.

Top 7 Best Construction Vacuum Cleaners in 2022

The Atvel G9 uses a 6‑stage filtration system with up to two HEPA filters (classes 10 and 12). As a result, 99.996% of particles as small as 0.3 microns are filtered out, which is simply incredible for a vacuum cleaner. For example, one of the leaders in this segment, the Dyson V11, has the same 6‑stage system that removes 99.97% of dust.

To turn on the vacuum cleaner, press the red button next to the mode switch. Here you can argue how much more convenient such a scheme is than a traditional trigger. Some users of the same Dyson V11 (with a trigger) complained that the finger gets tired during long cleaning. At the same time, in order to quickly collect dirt from a small area of the hallway or room, the trigger, of course, is more practical — you do not need to press the button 2 times.

A little closer to the filter from the power button is an OLED display, which by default displays the current cleaning mode and battery level. A message may also appear on the display indicating that the bin is clogged and needs to be emptied.

The dust collection compartment is very easy to clean. Unlike many simpler models, in which you need to press the latches to do this, here you just need to pull the container — it has a magnetic mount.

Next — take out the block with filters by the handle and shake out the contents.

The reverse process is also extremely simple: install the filter back and put the container in a niche. Its volume, like most similar vacuum cleaners, is small — 0.5 liters. But it was quite enough for us to clean a 2‑room apartment, which had not been vacuumed for several days.

Super brush with motor

Traditionally, vacuum cleaner manufacturers offer two brushes: a regular or roller brush for cleaning hard surfaces and a turbo brush for carpets.

In Atvel G9, they were combined into one: the design turned out to be more massive than that of competitors, but there is no need to change accessories. The small cylinder at the top is the motor. He increased...
In Atvel G9, they were combined into one: the design turned out to be more massive than that of competitors, but there is no need to change accessories. The small cylinder at the top is the motor. He increased the height of the brush, so it does not fit under every cabinet or sofa.

There is LED lighting at the front, which comes in handy when cleaning under furniture or in dark corners.

Both the roller and the brush are easy to clean. There are two small petals on the sidewall — just press them and you can pull out the roller along with the brush. The range of other nozzles is traditional. These are furniture brushes (regular and motorized) and a crevice nozzle.

There is also a small flexible adapter — it will help in cases where a straight pipe cannot reach the place. For example, to vacuum the top panel of cabinets.

How to store it all: 2 different ways

Separately, it is worth talking about the storage system of the vacuum cleaner itself and accessories. Essentially, there are two options here. The first is the traditional wall mount for such models. Charging is connected to the bracket, and the vacuum cleaner is recharged during storage. The kit includes not only all the necessary fasteners, but also a screwdriver! Still, a perforator would be generally excellent.

But there is an alternative option: a floor stand.

It is good because it can store not only the vacuum cleaner itself, but also a large number of nozzles. True, you will have to remove the tube from the vacuum cleaner and put it on every time before cleaning. The power is also connected to the stand, the vacuum cleaner is charged and her. In principle, you can also use a combined version: for example, store a vacuum cleaner with a rod and a main brush vertically, and store additional nozzles in a stand.

Our impressions

Atvel G9 was a discovery for us: although it is far from cheap, it is comparable in terms of characteristics, build quality and materials to more well-known market leaders. After a month of operation, we have only two controversial points: a super brush, which, due to its height, does not always crawl under furniture, and a power button, which not everyone likes.

Otherwise, there is nothing to complain about: the engine power is high enough to clean even carpets with high quality, the battery is enough for a large apartment, all parts are very easy to remove and assemble.

By the way, another indispensable device for cleanliness in the house is a robot vacuum cleaner that can be cleaned in your absence. We have a selection of such models, including those with wet cleaning. We recently tested the Morphy Richards Supersteam Pro 12 in 1 Steam Cleaner — see what it can do in our video.
