Innovative technologies are increasingly being introduced into our daily lives. Today, specialists in many professions in their activities cannot do without computers and laptops. The latter is preferred by more and more people.
A work laptop is a portable computer designed to solve various office tasks using specialized software. The device is a complete solution that does not require a lot of desk space, which is why it is so popular.
A working laptop must meet two important requirements: have at least a dual- or quad-core processor to quickly achieve your goals, and be as convenient as possible to use. As a rule, it is distinguished by a modest design, compactness, and a built-in keyboard designed exclusively for work in office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

Laptops can be conditionally divided into different subcategories, consider the main ones:
For work
They have low system requirements, so they are not suitable for games. For comfortable work, it is advisable to choose processors not lower than Intel Core i3, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD;
Gaming
They have a large power reserve, increased RAM (from 16 GB and above) and a high heat dissipation rate (at least 30 W). These characteristics are met by processors from Intel Core i5 (9–11 generations), AMD Ryzen 5 (3–4 generations);
For design
They feature a stunning screen (Full HD quality), powerful components needed for demanding graphic design applications. For this purpose, a processor with four or more cores operating without interruption at a frequency of 2.5 GHz with 8 GB of RAM is suitable;
For home
They do not have high power requirements. As a rule, home laptops are used for watching movies, social networking, small work in applications. You can give preference to devices based on AMD Athlon and AMD Ryzen 3 processors, Intel Core i3 and 8 GB of RAM.

How to choose a laptop for work
The market is filled with a variety of laptops for work, but getting the right model is not so easy. Let’s talk about the main characteristics that you should focus on when choosing a laptop:
CPU
The speed of performing work tasks in office applications primarily depends on the power of the processor. A laptop with a CPU (digital processor) from Intel Core i3, as well as AMD Ryzen 3 and 5 can become the base level for everyday work. For more dynamic work, models equipped with Intel Core i5 and higher are suitable.
Device memory
The amount of RAM plays a huge role when buying a working laptop. For high productivity, you should choose a gadget from 8 GB — otherwise the PC will “freeze”.
Internal storage matters too, so it’s wise to opt for a device with an SSD (Solid State Drive) of at least 256 GB. This element guarantees excellent read and write speed. Hard Disk Drive (HDD) devices are also suitable for work purposes as they have more write cycles and higher reliability. If there is no need for a faster PC and there is a need to store large files, then you can give preference to the HDD.
The presence of a slot for installing an additional memory drive will be a big plus.
video card
Using a laptop to work in a browser, Word, Excel and other similar applications does not require an expensive and powerful video card. For such basic purposes, most GPU models will do. For comfortable work with photo editors, where careful study of details is necessary, it is better to pay attention to more powerful video cards, for example, GeForce RTX.
autonomy
The capacity of a laptop battery for work determines how long the device will be able to function without recharging. This parameter is especially important for people with traveling work. In order for the device to properly perform its duties for 5–6 hours, choose models with a battery capacity of at least 15000 mAh.

An expert’s review of using a laptop for work
Shares his feedback on using a laptop for work Ilya Podmarevpromotion specialist at ProxyCar:
“In September I bought a laptop for work. I am employed in a company where only “office software” and Internet access are needed to perform my duties. Any budget laptop can do this, but I’m still registered as a self-employed person. This activity involves frequent meetings with customers and potential clients, where I present my materials. That is why such characteristics of a working laptop as autonomy, display size, performance are important to me.
As a result, I purchased a 17.3‑inch gadget with an Intel Pentium Gold 7505 processor with a 128 GB SSD, which I then replaced with 512 GB. The laptop weighs 2.5 kg, the battery lasts for about 4.5–5 hours of battery life. To be honest, I am not completely satisfied with the purchase, since I had a limited budget. The laptop only has 4 GB of RAM, but I plan to increase it in the future, as the PC is unstable and freezes.
