Do-it-yourself fastening of kitchen cabinets to the plank

Hang­ing cab­i­nets allow you to save space in the kitchen, expand­ing the use­ful area of ​​​​the head­set. It is extreme­ly impor­tant to make high-qual­i­ty and durable fas­ten­ing of kitchen cab­i­nets to the plank, as they cre­ate a large load on the wall and clamps.

Mounting options

The use of inno­v­a­tive fas­ten­ing equip­ment great­ly sim­pli­fies the instal­la­tion of the upper tier. It makes it pos­si­ble to elim­i­nate small flaws in mark­ing. The gap between the coun­ter­top and the bot­tom of the cab­i­nets on the walls should be 50–60 cm. If the hang­ing fur­ni­ture is placed above the refrig­er­a­tor, the height is equal to the low­er lev­el of the cab­i­net hinge.

Preparatory actions

Before start­ing work, you need to pre­pare the walls on which the instal­la­tion is car­ried out. They must be even. If you are going to install a cor­ner kitchen set, you should make sure that the angle formed by the walls is exact­ly 90 °.

Before installing fur­ni­ture, it is nec­es­sary to car­ry out all elec­tri­cal work, mark sock­ets, lamp leads, etc. It is nec­es­sary to com­plete the wall dec­o­ra­tion on which the cab­i­nets will be placed. It should be pre-past­ed with wall­pa­per or paint­ed, mount a kitchen apron. After installing fur­ni­ture, it will be much more dif­fi­cult to do repairs.

Necessary tools and materials

To car­ry out high-qual­i­ty work on installing a kitchen set, in par­tic­u­lar, hang­ing cab­i­nets, you must have a num­ber of tools and mate­ri­als with you:

• screw­driv­er, drill or punch­er;
• build­ing lev­el;
• a ham­mer;
• tape mea­sure and pen­cil;
• clamps are an option­al tool that may be required to con­nect sev­er­al cab­i­nets to each oth­er in order to give the struc­ture a mono­lith­ic effect;
• when anchor­ing, a wrench will be required;
• a cer­tain amount of self-tap­ping screws and dow­els (you can pur­chase screeds for con­nect­ing cab­i­nets to each oth­er);
• strap for fas­ten­ing (tire).

Installation instructions

Fas­ten­ing kitchen cab­i­nets begins with the instal­la­tion of hooks. They are fixed with adjust­ing screws. The ele­ments are mount­ed on the walls of the cab­i­net in such a way that they look out­ward by 3–5 mm and can catch on the mount­ing rail. After that, you need to start mark­ing on the wall. These notes will form the basis for future work. When apply­ing them, the fol­low­ing rules should be fol­lowed:

• If the hang­ing mod­ules will be locat­ed above high floor cab­i­nets or built-in appli­ances, then dur­ing the mark­ing they should be put in their places.
• Mount­ed mod­ules are over­lapped on the kitchen apron or close to it.
• The mount­ing rail should be 3–5 cm below the top edge of the wall cab­i­net. To cor­rect­ly cal­cu­late the dis­tance, you need to put the bar to the back of the fur­ni­ture mod­ule at the point of attach­ment to the wall.

After mark­ing with a drill, holes are made in the wall for installing the plank. For con­ve­nience, shal­low recess­es are pre­lim­i­nar­i­ly made in the places of future holes.

If the wall began to crum­ble dur­ing drilling, you first need to make a hole of a small­er diam­e­ter, and then expand it with a large drill. The depth of the holes must cor­re­spond to the length of the dow­els. When work­ing, take into account the loca­tion of the wiring so as not to acci­den­tal­ly touch it with a drill.

Dow­els are care­ful­ly dri­ven into the holes made. A bar is installed on the fas­ten­ers. The top row is attached to it with the help of a hinge. The posi­tion of the kitchen cab­i­net on the wall can be adjust­ed slight­ly with the adjust­ing screws.

After the mount­ing of the cab­i­nets on the rail is com­plet­ed, the indi­vid­ual mod­ules are con­nect­ed to each oth­er to cre­ate the effect of struc­tur­al integri­ty. This is done by fix­ing indi­vid­ual pedestals with clamps. The clamps are installed in the direc­tion from the cor­ner cab­i­net.

To pre­vent the walls of the upper tier from crack­ing from pres­sure, wood­en wedges are placed between them and the clamp. Holes are drilled through adja­cent walls of wall cab­i­nets in the kitchen, into which mount­ing screws are screwed. After that, the clamps can be removed.

Features of hanging on drywall

Attach­ing hang­ing cab­i­nets to a plas­ter­board wall has some nuances. The mate­r­i­al does not have great strength, so mod­ules weigh­ing more than 15 kg can­not be hung on the sur­face.

The mount­ing plate is attached not only to the dry­wall wall, but also to the met­al pro­file, which is locat­ed behind it. This way you can achieve greater strength fas­ten­ers. If you want to hang heav­ier fur­ni­ture mod­ules on the wall, then the kitchen cab­i­nets are fixed to the wall by using elon­gat­ed anchor bolts.
